About the role

 

The Specialist – Commercial Governance and Improvement plays a key role in enhancing commercial performance and ensuring strong governance across the organization’s commercial processes. As part of the Global Commercial Governance and Improvement Team, the role focuses on improving and integrating systems, processes, and data to create enterprise-wide value. It involves upholding group standards, implementing controls, and promoting commercial excellence through learning and innovation. The specialist collaborates with technology and transformation partners to accelerate delivery and improve efficiencies across the business. Additionally, the role provides global advisory and subject matter expertise to ensure the effective use of commercial tools and systems, supporting large-scale enterprise transformation.

What you will be doing

 

  • Governance
               o    Oversees the design of standard commercial business processes and provides expert guidance, prioritizing improvements across key areas such as Market Intelligence, Bid to Contract, Field Site Services, Order to Cash, and Issue to Resolution, based on business needs and project allocation.
               o    Supports with strategic roadmap execution and alignment of regional stakeholders.

 

  • Process 
               o    Acts as a global process owner for assigned online and offline commercial processes, with priorities adjusting as the role evolves and based on the business environment and priorities.

 

  • Systems
             o    Identifies improvement initiatives and develops action plans for implementation (online or offline).
             o    Provides quality data insights (data analytics) to mitigate risks and develop potential business cases supporting strategic initiatives and projects.
             o    Works with Master Data Owners and Regions to develop key action areas that deliver maximum value from a user experience, customer need and business outcome.

 

  • Capability development
             o    Enables commercial competency development aligned with Orica’s standard organisation design. 
             o    Designs and delivers training based on system or process changes or capability gaps, while also providing quality data insights for Orica’s sales metrics.
             o    Garners external knowledge to support drive for innovation and support the development of action plans for implementation.
             o    Ensures the integrity and optimisation of standard global processes, data, systems, and knowledge to drive business performance excellence.
             o    Leads the global rollout of commercial processes and collaborates with key functional and regional stakeholders for systems requirements and value proposition.
             o    Gains end users' buy-in by delivering group-wide initiatives and projects effectively based on their needs and organisational requirements.
             o    Partners with regional and global functional groups to achieve commercial discipline and deliver enterprise-wide value.

What you will bring

 

  • Demonstrates strong proficiency in conversational English, both written and verbal, along with well-developed mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Possesses 3–5 years of SAP specialist and large-scale project management experience, ideally within a regional or global organization, with a preference for international or regional project exposure.
  • Proven ability to lead virtual or site-based teams, including building a collaborative approach in the development of the direction and operations of the workstream.
  • A proven self-driven influencer with strong stakeholder management skills, capable of effectively managing processes across diverse groups at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, including prioritization, planning, task delegation, and coordination across multiple functional teams.
  • Able to build structure and show initiative in ambiguous situations and establish best practices.
