About the role
We are hiring a Senior Process Design Engineer to play a key role in shaping how our plants are designed and improved across Orica’s global operations.
Reporting to the Process Design Lead, you will develop and review engineering designs, using modelling tools to ensure solutions are safe, efficient and ready for real operations.
You’ll work closely with site teams and external partners to develop designs that support strong plant performance and long-term reliability.
This is a specialist opportunity focused on process design rather than plant operations.
What you will be doing

Lead and deliver process design for capital projects across global manufacturing sites;

Develop key engineering deliverables (PFDs, P&IDs, mass & energy balances);

Perform and contribute to process safety studies (HAZOP, LOPA, relief systems);

Conduct process simulation and modelling (e.g. Aspen, CFD) to validate design performance;

Define plant capacity, equipment sizing, and process optimisation strategies;

Work with external licensors, vendors and consultants to ensure robust technology selection;

Support project delivery through design reviews and technical input across global teams.
What you will bring
- Degree in Chemical Engineering;
- At least 5 years of experience in process design, modelling, or project engineering;
- Strong understanding of process safety and manufacturing principles;
- Experience or exposure to process simulation tools (Aspen, ProSim, etc.);
- Ability to work across multiple stakeholders and global teams; and
- Experience in ammonia, nitric acid, ammonium nitrate or sodium cyanide would be highly regarded.
