About the role
We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Communications Partner to support Orica’s SHES (Safety, Health, Environment and Security), Discrete Manufacturing and Supply team. Based in our Melbourne office, this role reports to the Global Internal Communications Manager and works closely with the President and business unit leadership team to shape and deliver impactful communication strategies.
As a strategic partner, you will lead both internal and external communications (70/30 split), helping employees connect with business priorities and driving leadership visibility. You’ll be a key contributor in translating complex initiatives into clear, engaging narratives, while managing core channels, supporting change programs, and contributing to global communications alignment.

What you will be doing
Strategic Communication Partnership
- Advise senior leaders on communication strategies that support business goals and employee engagement.
- Collaborate closely with the President and leadership team to align messaging with business direction and strategy.
Channel Ownership and Content Delivery
- Manage end-to-end communications across channels such as leadership emails, intranet, Viva Engage, newsletters and virtual events.
- Create and publish high-impact, visual content tailored for different employee audiences.
Change and Initiative Support
- Provide communications leadership for key projects including network optimisation, mental health, and DEI programs.
- Support the rollout of change initiatives by crafting compelling messages and engagement plans.
Employee Engagement and Storytelling
- Develop campaigns and storytelling content that build connection to strategy, leadership, and purpose.
- Tailor communications to diverse employee groups to maximise understanding and impact.
Insights and Continuous Improvement
- Track and analyse communications performance to inform decision-making and optimise reach.
- Identify opportunities to evolve communication tools, tactics, and processes.
Global and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with the Corporate Communications team to ensure alignment of global and local messaging.
- Support broader corporate strategies and participate in cross-functional communications planning.
What you will bring
- 5+ years of experience in internal or corporate communications, with strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven ability to influence and advise senior leaders
- Experience in developing and executing communications strategies across multiple platforms
- Strong writing, visual storytelling and presentation skills
- Experience in change communications and issue management
- Comfort working in a global, matrixed environment
- Familiarity with tools such as Staffbase, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Canva, Viva Engage, and Slido is a plus.
