About the role

 

The Manager – Capability Development, Digital Fluency leads enterprise-wide capability development through a portfolio-based approach, partnering with global and regional stakeholders to identify critical skill gaps and deliver scalable learning solutions that support workforce performance and business priorities.

 

With a strong focus on digital fluency and AI, the role plays a key part in enabling modern ways of working - supporting how the organization builds capability, adopts new tools and technologies, and effectively manages and shares knowledge at scale.

What you will be doing

 

  • Lead enterprise-wide capability development using a portfolio management approach, ensuring critical roles have the skills needed to support operational efficiency and strategic priorities - this includes activities to building a digitally fluent workforce where all Orica employees have the skills and confidence to work alongside AI
  • Partner with subject matter experts and leaders globally and regionally to identify skill gaps, design solutions, and balance global consistency with local relevance
  • Conduct in-depth capability and needs analysis, using data and insights to define current state, future requirements, and targeted interventions
  • Design, scale, and adapt engaging learning solutions using contemporary adult learning methodologies, ensuring a consistent and effective learner experience
  • Deliver capability interventions through a mix of solutions, tools, and communication channels, embedded in the flow of work
  • Evaluate learner engagement and capability uplift, tracking key metrics and using data to continuously improve outcomes
  • Project manage multiple programs of work, balancing priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes aligned to organizational strategy
  • Implement and uphold enterprise standards, systems, and governance across capability development
  • Collaborate closely within the Organizational Capability team, contributing to a cross-functional and integrated approach to skills development, talent mobility, and expertise building

What you will bring

 

  • Tertiary qualification in HR, Psychology, Business, Management, Commerce, or a related discipline
  • Relevant experience across Organizational Capability, Learning & Development, learning design, systems, and project delivery, ideally within complex, matrixed organizations
  • At least 7 years’ experience working in enterprise environments with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • A digitally savvy mindset, with confidence using modern learning platforms, tools, and emerging technologies to enhance capability solutions
  • Strong ability to partner with diverse stakeholder groups, influence outcomes, and build trusted relationships across functions and regions
  • Proven experience managing programs of work end-to-end, balancing priorities while maintaining clear communication and engagement
  • Demonstrated capability in change management, problem solving, and translating business needs into practical, scalable solutions
  • Highly analytical, with the ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data to inform decisions and continuous improvement
  • An action-oriented, self-starting approach, with curiosity, adaptability, and a strong customer-focused mindset
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented style
  • Melbourne-based preferred, though flexibility may be considered for the right candidate
