About the role

 

We’re excited to announce a key opportunity to join Orica as Lead – Group Financial Controlling, based in our Melbourne office. In this key role, you’ll lead financial accounting for Orica’s corporate and investment entities, oversee group consolidation and reporting, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

What you will be doing


Management, Financial Reporting & Control:
•    Collaborate with Orica Global Business Services, addressing issues and finding solutions
•    Prepare and consolidate business unit financial statements accurately and on time ensure proper recording of transactions, and conduct asset impairment testing
•    Participate in internal and external audits, embedding internal controls in processes
•    Oversee bi-annual assurance process, including balance sheet reviews, support budgeting and, forecasting, and finance projects

Group Level Statutory Participation:
•    Complete half year/annual group consolidated accounts and shareholder reports promptly and accurately
•    Prepare legal entity statutory accounts and Investor Relations reporting
•    Manage information for Orica Tax Group for tax compliance
•    Prepare financial Board reports
•    Prepare technical accounting papers in compliance with Australian Accounting Standards

Administration and Compliance:
•    Ensure compliance with Orica standards, Segregation of Duties, and financial policies
•    Handle external auditing requirements

Employee Development and Motivation:
•    Potentially manage a small team
•    Coach and develop team leaders and members
•    Communicate with senior stakeholders and encourage individual development ownership
•    Mentor and cultivate a high-performing team while encouraging individual ownership of development plans.

 

What you will bring


•    Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Business
•    Professional designation CA or CPA
•    Experience in a similar role within a large, global business
•    7+ years post-graduate experience in accounting or finance
•    Excellent knowledge of Australian accounting standards
•    Essential Excel proficiency
•    SAP S4 Hana experience is a plus
•    Previous experience in an large to mid-tier audit firm 
•    Flexible to work across multiple time zones
