About the role
Orica is seeking an experienced, commercially driven M&A leader to join as Head of Mergers & Acquisitions. You will lead the origination and execution of transactions that shape Orica’s portfolio, accelerate growth and deliver long-term shareholder value. With an active transaction pipeline and operations spanning more than 100 countries, this is a role with genuine commercial impact and global reach.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President – Development, you will work closely with leaders across the business to deliver Orica’s inorganic growth agenda. This is a high-profile, senior leadership role with regular exposure to the Executive Committee, CEO and Board, and you will be a trusted adviser on corporate transactions, portfolio strategy and value creation.
This role will suit a seasoned M&A professional with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity or a relevant industry environment. You will bring strong commercial judgement, sharp analytical capability and the ability to communicate with clarity and confidence at the most senior levels.

What you will be doing
- Leading the end-to-end execution of accretive M&A transactions across Orica's global footprint — from origination, building the investment thesis and valuation through to due diligence, approvals, negotiation, closing and integration, with a strong focus on co-ordinating cross functional teams.
- Identifying assets where Orica is not the natural long-term owner and evaluating potential disposal opportunities.
- Preparing board-ready investment papers and managing external advisers including investment banks, legal counsel and due diligence providers.
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including potential industry partners.
- Managing and developing a small team of M&A professionals and provide coaching, mentoring and a future talent pipeline for the organisation.
What you will bring
- A minimum of 15 years' experience in M&A, corporate development or private equity, ideally within a global industrial or resources environment.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, engineering or similar.
- The ability to build an investment case that stands up to Board-level scrutiny and manage multiple complex workstreams in parallel.
- Demonstrated leadership, management, and coaching skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a high-performing team.
- Knowledge of foreign languages and international experience is advantageous but not essential
