About the role


An exciting opportunity exists for a Treasury Analyst to join Orica’s global Treasury function, based at our Melbourne Head Office. This role offers meaningful exposure to group‑wide liquidity management and financial market risk management within a complex, global ASX listed organisation.

Reporting to the Assistant Treasurer, the Treasury Analyst plays a critical role in managing Orica’s day‑to‑day liquidity position. The role is responsible for executing financial market transactions, including foreign exchange contracts, interest rate derivatives and short‑term funding arrangements, while supporting prudent risk management and cash optimisation outcomes.

What you will be doing

 

  • Ensure local and foreign currency cash requirements are effectively managed through the development and maintenance of cash flow forecasting models to assess liquidity.
  • Execute and record short‑term debt and foreign exchange transactions to support cash management and hedging requirements.
  • Manage short‑ and long‑term intercompany loans and deposits, including the associated foreign exchange hedging arrangements.
  • Coordinate and execute Orica’s monthly intercompany netting process, including the management of related foreign exchange hedge adjustments.
  • Evaluate foreign exchange, interest rate, and commodity risks, and execute derivative transactions in line with approved risk management frameworks.
  • Monitor counterparty exposures to ensure credit limits are appropriately managed and not breached.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal finance stakeholders and group relationship banks, ensuring the appropriate execution and allocation of treasury transactions.

What you will bring

 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Finance or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant treasury or financial markets experience, ideally within a corporate or institutional environment.
  • Hands‑on experience transacting foreign exchange derivatives and debt products, including an understanding of pricing vanilla derivative transactions.
  • A practical working knowledge of hedge accounting principles.
  • Strong Excel capability, with experience using Treasury Management Systems such as Reval (or similar) preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
