About the role
Step into a pivotal leadership role at our Kooragang Island site, where your expertise will drive the success of one of the most complex and high-impact programs in our operations.
As Turnaround Manager, you will spearhead the planning and execution of large-scale industrial shutdowns that are essential to the site's safety, reliability, and overall performance. You’ll lead a dedicated planning team of around 15 professionals, scaling up to several hundred personnel during execution. These major events occur every 12 to 18 months, span 15 to 60 days, and command budgets ranging from $10 million to $70 million.
This is a hands-on, strategic leadership role that demands coordination across diverse teams, proactive risk management, and a relentless focus on performance. You will be accountable for delivering each turnaround safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards, meeting critical targets in cost, schedule, quality, and team morale—while also ensuring strong safety leadership and effective stakeholder engagement throughout every phase.
What you will be doing
- Lead and develop a high-performing team to deliver turnaround milestones ahead of schedule.
- Manage long-range outage planning and ensure continuous improvement.
- Champion the 7-stage turnaround milestone plan and drive consistent implementation.
- Establish steering committees and develop turnaround premises with key stakeholders.
- Standardize systems and tools for scope, planning, scheduling, procurement, and execution.
- Oversee scope compilation, challenge processes, and scope management reporting.
- Facilitate work pack development and execution during turnaround windows.
- Conduct proactive risk reviews and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage procurement of materials and services for turnaround delivery.
- Optimize scheduling across all turnaround activities to minimize cost and disruption.
- Produce and distribute regular turnaround reports and audits.
- Develop and maintain standardized management plans and documentation.
- Create an intuitive portal for stakeholder access to turnaround tools and resources.
- Lead execution with internal and external teams to meet KPIs in safety, quality, schedule, cost, and morale.
- Oversee all commercial aspects of turnaround events.
- Actively contribute to the site leadership team.
What you will bring
- 15+ years of industry experience, including leadership in large-scale turnarounds.
- Proven experience in construction management of large industrial projects.
- Strong track record in safety leadership and stakeholder collaboration.
- Budget management up to $50M with a focus on minimizing downtime.
