About the role
As the Senior Superintendent - Nitrates Production, you’ll play a key leadership role at our Kooragang Island site, overseeing safe, reliable production of critical products that support mining operations locally and nationally.
Reporting to the Senior Manager - Nitrates Production, you’ll lead shift-based production teams and work closely with maintenance, engineering and site leaders to deliver production plans and continuously improve how we operate. This role suits a people-focused leader who enjoys building capable teams, fostering a strong safety culture, and creating an environment where everyone feels supported to do their best work.
You’ll be part of a collaborative leadership group that values open communication, shared accountability and long-term career development.
What you will be doing
- Leading and supporting shift-based production teams, with accountability for team leaders and daywork coordinators;
- Promoting a strong safety, health and environmental culture across day-to-day operations;
- Ensuring production targets are met safely, efficiently and to quality standards;
- Working closely with maintenance and technical teams to plan safe, effective daily operations and shutdowns;
- Coaching and developing team leaders through regular feedback, training and capability-building;
- Supporting continuous improvement by leading investigations into operational or safety incidents;
- Managing resourcing, overtime and leave arrangements to balance business needs and team wellbeing;
- Participating in the site on-call roster, with support from the broader leadership team.
What you will bring
- A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Science or a related discipline, or equivalent operational leadership experience;
- Experience leading teams in a manufacturing, processing or continuous production environment;
- A strong commitment to safety and care for people;
- An inclusive leadership style that builds trust and brings out the best in diverse teams;
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders;
- Sound judgement, resilience and confidence in decision-making;
