About the role
We’re excited to announce an opening for a Maintenance Specialist – Welding & Inspection to join our Maintenance & Engineering team at Orica.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the safety, reliability, and integrity of critical site assets across a complex manufacturing environment.
Reporting to the Senior Engineer – Integrity, you will provide technical assurance across inspection, welding, and maintenance activities. Working across both planned and emergent work, you will lead asset inspections, identify defects, and drive high-quality repair solutions—ensuring all work is completed safely and to the required quality and compliance standards.
What you will be doing
- Conduct routine, statutory, and ad-hoc inspections across a range of site assets, including pressure equipment, piping systems, structural assets, accessways, bunds, pits, and lifting equipment

Identify and assess defects such as corrosion, cracking, and mechanical damage, and recommend appropriate repair actions
- Support and oversee welding activities, ensuring work is completed to required standards and quality expectations
- Manage and review non-destructive testing (NDT) activities and inspection documentation
- Work closely with site teams to plan, scope, and deliver maintenance and repair work across both planned and emergent tasks
- Ensure all inspection and maintenance activities comply with relevant standards, site procedures, and regulatory requirements
What you will bring
- Trade qualification in Welding or similar;
- Welding Inspector certification (or greater);
- Experience in inspection or maintenance in industrial settings;
- Knowledge of pressure systems and relevant standards;
- Strong problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills;
- Exposure to API 510 / AICIP certification frameworks;
- Advanced understanding of welding materials including high temperature materials;
- Experience with CMMS (SAP preferred).
