About the role

 

We are hiring a Process Engineer at our Kooragang Island manufacturing site in Newcastle. In this role, you’ll play a key part in keeping complex chemical plants running safely, reliably, and efficiently. You’ll work closely with operators and maintenance teams across our ammonia, nitric acid, and ammonium nitrate production units, stepping in when performance issues arise and helping identify root causes and improve outcomes.

 

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be actively involved in monitoring plant performance, troubleshooting issues, and optimising processes across a large-scale, highly integrated site. You’ll also contribute to site projects and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, efficiency, and environmental performance.

 

You’ll be supported by experienced technical professionals and will have the opportunity to build your capability, take ownership of process performance, and grow your career over time in a site known for its strong teamwork and variety of work.

What you will be doing

 

  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot process issues;
  • Monitor and optimise plant performance;
  • Work with operators and maintenance to resolve issues;
  • Support projects, plant changes, and commissioning;
  • Review and apply operating procedures and safety standards;
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

What you will bring

 

  • Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering;
  • Experience in manufacturing, refining, or process industries;
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking;
  • Ability to work closely with operations teams;
  • Understanding of process safety principles;
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a hands-on role.
