About the role
What you will be doing
- Promote a strong safety culture by immediately reporting all incidents and hazards, actively participating in toolbox talks and safety meetings, maintaining emergency equipment and first aid kits, and adhering to all SHEC requirements.
- Complete and maintain all required operational, SHEC, and site‑specific training in line with the Orica Training Matrix, and support the close‑out of audit actions.
- Ensure environmentally responsible operations through effective waste minimisation, proper housekeeping, and correct use, handling, and storage of raw materials and dangerous goods in accordance with SDS requirements.
- Support operational efficiency by assisting clients in achieving production targets, identifying and reporting any variations in product specification, appearance, or performance, and maintaining high service standards.
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with Orica colleagues and customers, and perform ancillary or relief duties at other locations as directed, consistent with competency and role requirements.
What you will bring
- Licensed Shotfire and compliant with mining and explosives regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in open cut mining or quarry operations, with hands‑on involvement in loading, tying, and firing of blasts.
- Strong working knowledge of explosives handling, storage, and transport, including strict compliance with site procedures and legal requirements.
- Proven commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and risk management in high‑risk, site‑based operations.
- Physically fit, safety‑driven team player with the ability to work on site‑based or rostered assignments, and adapt to operational and environmental conditions.
