About the role
We are seeking a strategic and execution-oriented Product Director / Senior Product Director to lead the evolution of an integrated portfolio of hardware, software, and services for the geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring industry. This role is critical in unifying offerings across recent acquisitions into a cohesive, scalable platform serving mining and civil infrastructure markets.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in industrial or engineering technology products combined with technical software solutions , strong product leadership, and a proven ability to drive integration, innovation, and growth in complex, multi-product environments.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 3 days in office/2 days remote
Management: Approx 5 team members+
What you will be doing
Product Strategy & Portfolio Leadership
- Define and execute a multi-year product strategy across sensors, data acquisition systems, visualization platforms, software analytics, and services.
- Integrate and rationalize product lines originating from multiple acquisitions into a unified, customer-centric portfolio.
- Establish clear product positioning, differentiation, and value propositions across mining and civil infrastructure segments.
- Drive prioritization of product investments aligned to ROI, market growth, and customer impact.
Product Development & Lifecycle Management
- Own the end-to-end product lifecycle from concept through launch, scaling, and sunset.
- Lead teams executing according to the Orica Product Lifecycle Management process.
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and marketing teams to develop innovative and reliable monitoring solutions.
- Champion modern product practices including Agile development, and voice-of-customer centered design.
- Ensure product offerings meet industry requirements for safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Platform & Integration Leadership
- Lead efforts to transition disparate systems into a cohesive platform architecture (hardware + software + cloud + analytics).
- Define data strategy including interoperability, data models, APIs, and analytics capabilities.
- Align hardware and software roadmaps to deliver seamless end-to-end customer solutions.
Customer & Market Insight
- Engage with key customers in mining and civil infrastructure to deeply understand use cases, pain points, and operational workflows.
- Translate technical and field requirements into compelling product features.
- Monitor market trends (e.g., automation, remote monitoring, ESG/safety requirements) and incorporate into roadmap planning.
Commercial Partnership
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to:
- Support go-to-market strategy and pricing models
- Enable solution selling and bundled offerings (hardware + SaaS + services)
- Drive adoption, retention, and expansion of installed base
- Support strategic bids and key account engagements.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as the central product liaison across Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Services.
- Build alignment across geographically distributed product teams and acquired company cultures.
- Mentor and lead a growing team of product managers and project lifecycle project managers.

Your qualifications
Required
- 10–25+ years of product management experience in industrial technology, IoT, software, instrumentation, or engineering-driven products
- Experience managing integrated hardware + software + analytics platforms
- Proven success leading product strategy in complex or post-acquisition environments
- Strong understanding of data-driven systems, cloud platforms, and analytics tools
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical concepts into market-ready solutions
- Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills
Preferred
- Experience in geotechnical, mining, civil engineering, or infrastructure monitoring
- Familiarity with instrumentation sensors (e.g., piezometers, inclinometers, strain gauges, etc.)
- Knowledge of monitoring software, visualization tools, predictive analytics and AI
- Experience selling into or supporting large-scale mining or infrastructure projects
- MBA or advanced technical degree (Engineering, Geosciences, etc.)

Compensation
- Salary Range - $175,000 -$200,000 CAD
- Eligible for annual short-term incentive plan
(Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
