About The Role – SHES (Safety, Health, Environment, Security) Coordinator – Maple Ridge BC
Orica is hiring a SHES (Safety, Health, Environment, Security) Coordinator who will provide operational support, guidance and advice to workers and leaders in managing workplace health and safety, risk, and injury management, and preventing workplace accidents and injuries by collaboratively building on Orica Digital Solution’s culture of Safety First.
The SHES Coordinator will lead, execute and participate in key activities within the RST Instruments site and the North America region for the Geosolutions group and will work in collaboration with the broader Digital Solutions SHES team to deliver the SHES plan.
What you will be doing
• Provide advice in response to SHES queries on policy and process relevant to the Manufacturing Centre or Sub-Regional Area within agreed timeframes;
• Participate in continuous improvement processes and problem-solving activities within the Geosolutions sites in North America;
• Ensure accuracy of information and delivery in agreed timeframes;
• Participate in SHES related projects for RST Instruments, Geosolutions and Digital Solutions as required;
• Contribute to the execution of the Orica Digital Solutions SHES integration plan within Orica;
• Contribute to the development and implementation of SHES management systems;
• Participate and support SHES assurance activities including audits;
• Support Orica leaders to execute their SHES responsibilities and accountabilities;
• Lead event investigations;
• Coordinate Job Safety Analysis
• Support the development of a SHES risk profile;
• Implement initiatives to mitigate and prevent SHES risk
• Develop clear, concise, and standardized Safe Work Procedures for various operational processes in collaboration with department leads
• Deliver all SHES communications, such as Safety Alerts and Toolbox Talks from global/local safety campaigns within the Manufacturing Centre or Sub-Regional Area. Maintain toolbox talk records.
• Manage and complete all Global Action Plans in Enablon for the respective region/entities
• Maintenance of SHES Records for respective region/entities.
• Create and provide SHES training
• Any other activities deemed appropriate by the Manufacturing Centre, Sub-Regional Area or Group.
Metrics
• Strength of credible relationships through feedback from internal stakeholders
• Effective implementation of the Orica SHES Standards and MHM program
• Quality incident investigations and root cause analysis for significant incidents
• Assurance activities conducted as per plan
• Effective and consistent implementation of SHES improvement initiatives
What you will bring
• High level of computer literacy and application skills in MS Office
• Exceptional organizational skills, able to prioritize, detail oriented
• Ability to multi-task and work efficiently
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Great reliability and professionalism
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Valid Canadian Standards Association (CSA) First Aid certification
• Experience with Enablon software is an asset
• Any relevant health and safety training or certifications are an asset
• Experience with investigation methodology such as 5 Whys, 8D or ICAM
Role dimensions
• Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 3 days in office
Your qualifications
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety
• A minimum of 1-2 years of related safety experience
• Knowledge of WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation and related standards

Compensation
• Salary Range: $64,575 - $76,500 CAD
• Eligible for annual short-term incentive plan
(Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
