About the role - Material Handler (Minden, LA)
We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for a Material Handler within our Orica USA Logistics and Distribution team.
This role plays a vital part in supporting production and maintaining smooth warehouse operations.
The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient physical movement of products within the magazines and staging areas of the Distribution Center. Key responsibilities include:
- Safety First: We’re committed to maintaining a secure, injury-free workplace. All team members are expected to follow safety protocols and promptly report any incidents or concerns to leadership—because safety is everyone’s responsibility.
- Transporting and stocking raw materials in the staging building to meet production forecast requirements.
- Maintaining accurate inventory records, including physical picking, packing, receiving, and stocking of goods from and to the warehouse.
- Performing monthly inspections and inventory checks of the magazines and warehouse.
- Ensuring all tasks are completed in compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
Work schedule
- Monday to Friday
- 7 AM – 4 PM approx. 8 hours/day
- This position will require you to report to the Minden, Louisiana, site, five days a week
What you will be doing
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment.

- Prevention of unsafe practices at work through interaction with team members and stakeholders.
- Perform all picking, packing, and receiving of goods as per system requirements, maintaining the integrity of the product.
- Record all movements of products in the system immediately after completion to maintain live information of stock.
- Safely store and move goods within the warehouses and distribution center.
- Perform stock takes following Global standards and procedures.
- Ensure load and unload areas are clean and safe throughout the shift.
- Ability to accurately document shipping weights, batch IDs, and truck IDs.
What you will bring

- Good attention to detail and math skills to handle inventory on a daily basis.
- Ability to prioritize various projects, ongoing daily tasks, and high-priority situations to maximize efficiency.
- Working knowledge of transportation and warehouse operations is a plus.
- Microsoft Excel experience or the ability to learn Excel and other computer skills.
- Experience with SAP or another ERP system is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to follow up, as needed, to ensure tasks maintain forward motion.
- Ability to display solid judgment on when to escalate problems.
- Capacity to manage and adapt to changing priorities.
- Need to be team-oriented and solution-oriented.
- Working closely with peers within and outside of the immediate work group.
- Work effectively across teams.
Safety, Health & Environment
- Support companywide Deliver the Promise Goal of Safety, Health & Environment.
- Immediately report any accidents, injuries, or incidents.
- Alert management immediately about any safety concerns.
- Participates in safety meetings and trainings regularly.
- Full understanding of all vehicle safety procedures.
- Utilizes personal protective equipment.
Physical requirements
- Work Environment involves being outside in all types of weather.
- Lifting up to 60 pounds and carrying 50 pounds or more of materials.
- Mobility is needed for squatting and bending.
Your qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience operating a forklift and JLG is required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in material handling, transportation, or warehouse operations, including conducting product inventory counts and maintaining accurate inventory records in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Compensation
- Hourly Pay Range: $20 - $22
(Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
