About the role

The Lead – Regional Core Technology Operations ensures reliable IT services across regional sites, aligning with Global IT Support and Business Engagement to maintain service standards and operational excellence. Acting as the primary IT contact for Core Technology, the role provides hands-on support, manages the hardware lifecycle, and drives compliance with IT Service Management practices.
Beyond daily operations, the Lead supports projects, collaborates with engineering teams, and assists with site initiatives to ensure consistent, efficient IT delivery that supports strategic and operational goals.

What you will be doing

• Collaborate with Global IT Support Leads and vendors to deliver effective support for regional users; take ownership of issues end-to-end and maintain clear communication with stakeholders during incidents and change activities.
• Participate in Major Incident Management, Root Cause Analysis, and Post-Incident Reviews; partner with Service Management to achieve targeted performance metrics and adhere to IT governance, change, and service delivery processes.
• Provide hands-on infrastructure support or coordinate vendors for IT equipment at regional sites; perform emergency, preventive, and corrective maintenance; coordinate user communications, testing, and change activities.
• Support and train users in adopting new and emerging technologies from Global IT; assist with Orica Digital Solutions and Operational Technology initiatives as required.
• Develop and maintain operational documentation; produce operational reports aligned with IT standards and cybersecurity requirements; contribute to planned and unplanned recovery activities with Service Continuity Management. Site travel may be required.
• Ensure lifecycle management of IT assets (patching, upgrades, refresh), oversee procurement and leasing, and maintain accurate inventory and licensing compliance in line with Global IT standards, driving consolidation and simplification of the IT landscape across Orica.
• Manage regional vendors and outsourced services, including SLAs, performance monitoring, and commercial/contractual coordination with local and global supply teams; support the regional IT budget.
• Work with our IT Business Engagement team to understand regional technology needs, represent critical site requirements to global teams, uphold architecture governance and Orica IT policy compliance, and oversee risk identification and mitigation.
• Support major projects and global implementations; manage minor regional projects; ensure effective transition to operations; communicate regional user impacts and align on the 0–12-month strategy and roadmap with Strategy & Architecture.

What you will bring

• Related industry experience (Manufacturing, Mining, Utilities), including exposure to Operational Technology (OT).
• 5–10 years in IT operational support roles, including IT Hardware Asset Management; 3–5 years in dedicated IT support and people leadership within large, global organizations.
• Experience supporting and maintaining global platforms with multi-sourced workforces and third-party/managed services.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, with excellent verbal and written communication for technical and non-technical audiences; proven ownership and accountability.
• Technical knowledge across cybersecurity, infrastructure, and networking; sound project management and personal time-management skills.
• Ability to support and help deliver strategic plans, drive innovation, support projects, and manage budget activity with demonstrated commercial acumen.
• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, or comparable industry experience preferred; infrastructure, network, cyber, and OT technical experience advantageous.
