About the role

The Specialist – SHES role is a 12‑month fixed‑term opportunity based in Limay, Bataan, offering the chance to play a key role in strengthening safety, health, environment, and sustainability outcomes within a global organization. As part of the Regional SHES team, you will provide specialist expertise in your discipline, implementing systems, procedures, and initiatives aligned with Orica’s global standards and regional priorities, while ensuring full legislative and regulatory compliance.

 

Working closely with operational leaders and SHES colleagues, you will support effective risk management strategies, embed leading practices, and identify improvement opportunities that drive sustainable performance. This role is ideal for a proactive SHES professional who enjoys working at site level, influencing stakeholders, and making a visible impact on safety culture and continuous improvement.

 

What you will be doing

 

  • Develops, owns, and implements the Regional, department-specific Improvement Plan in collaboration with Group and Site Specialists and Operational Leaders.
  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing guidance and technical support to SHES Specialists and Operational Leaders.
  • Monitors, contributes to, and supports investigations and action plans, ensuring timely close-out and progress against agreed due dates.
  • Develops implementation pathways and rollout plans for Orica Group Standards and Procedures, partnering with SHES Specialists and Operations to ensure effective adoption.
  • Identifies improvement opportunities and drives structured, consistent regional implementation to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitors regional legislative, regulatory, internal, and external requirements, emerging trends, and events, and develops appropriate responses within the discipline area.
  • Engages with industry associations, collaborates with Global SHES on best practices, and supports SHES Specialists in understanding legal requirements and regulatory authority liaison.

 

What you will bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • 3–7 years SHES experience in manufacturing, chemicals, mining, or heavy industry
  • Solid knowledge of Philippine SHES legislation, compliance, and regulatory engagement
  • Experience in risk management, incident investigation, and SHES system implementation
  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑influencing skills across site and regional team
