About Orica

At Orica, it’s the power of our people that leads change and shapes our futures.  Every day, all around the world, our people help mobilise vital resources essential to progress. Established in 1874, we have grown to become the world leader in mining and civil blasting with a diverse of team of more than 13,000 across the world.

It’s an exciting time to join us – we are shaping the future of mining through digital and automated technologies, embracing new ways of thinking, pioneering innovation and reimagining the way we work.

About the role

The Integrated Extraction Simulator (IES) is Orica’s cloud-based simulator for the mining / processing value chain.  This product is enjoying buoyant market growth and the Global Technical Services Team requires a Specialist – Metallurgy to lead some client projects and help support others.   Mining and engineering clients develop and configure their flowsheets on the IES platform for use in greenfield concentrator design, debottlenecking existing plants, circuit design improvements, life-of-asset scenario planning and Mine-to-Mill decision support.

The Specialist - Metallurgy will primarily liaise with the clients to understand their data, requirements and challenges and use IES to help them optimise the processing value chain and then retain that advantage through technical transfer.  The Specialist - Metallurgy will take delight in using the latest simulation and optimisation technology to solve difficult problems in the most sustainable manner and communicating that capability to the client.

The Brisbane based IES developers maintain and enhance the software platform, and the Specialist - Metallurgy will have the opportunity to participate in new developments in data analytics and Machine Learning and collaborate with other Specialists – Metallurgy in Brisbane.
