About the role

Orica’s Emerging FutureShaper Internship Program offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a global organisation leading the way in digital innovation across the mining and infrastructure industries.

Join us as a UX/UI Design Summer Intern at Orica in our Kurri Kurri office, and work on meaningful digital products used by industries across the globe. This is your chance to learn, design, and contribute to tools that actually make an impact, alongside a supportive team that’s excited to help you grow.

What you will be doing

  • Supporting the UX/UI team in the development of user-centric digital solutions
  • Creating wireframes, prototypes, and mockups using tools such as Figma or similar platforms
  • Participating in user research and usability testing activities
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of design system components
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including product managers, developers, and engineers

What you will bring

  • Currently studying a degree in UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Digital Media, or a related discipline
  • A strong interest in UX/UI design and a desire to grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Foundational skills in Figma or similar design tools (university coursework or personal projects are welcome)
  • Curiosity and empathy: you’re interested in how people use products and how to make them better
  • Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
