About the role

 

We are excited to offer an opportunity for suitably skilled and experienced candidates to join our team at our Kurri Kurri Technical Centre (KKTC), NSW and work alongside our brilliant R & D Scientists and Engineers.  The Supervisor – Site Facilities assists with the development, implementation and support of products and processes to meet the needs of the Explosives Technology team.  You will also provide operational support to KKTC Facilities stakeholders through planning and execution of activities within the technical facilities.

 

This is a hands-on role assisting with the implementation of new equipment and technologies, operating Research and Development equipment including all KKTC apparatus, e.g. blast chamber, Mobile Processing Units (MPUs); supporting all regulatory and statutory activities, including completion of audits, preparation of risk documentation and magazine compliance activities.

What you will be doing

 

  • Ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with Orica safety and legal requirements, and risk management conducted through best practice techniques; 
  • Ensuring all legal and statutory requirements related to magazines are complied with;
  • Facilitating regular site audits as required, ensuring actions are captured on Enablon and closed out in a timely fashion;
  • Maintaining effective working relationships all site stakeholders to ensure a safe and productive work environment;
  • Supporting specific Technology projects/initiatives as a specialist operator and R&D Shotfirer; including field testing, pilot plant testing, operator SME, and training support, when appropriate;
  • Working with external experts to facilitate technical support for R&D equipment, approaching problems from a positive solution orientated perspective.
  • Additional tasks as requested by line management from time to time. 

What you will bring

 

  • Safety is our Number One priority always!
  • Shortfirer’s licence or ability to attain (a Special Purpose licence is applicable on site);
  • 5+ years industry experience, including On-Bench MMU operation and/or  shotfiring experience;
  • Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude, trade qualifications would be advantageous;
  • SSAN or equivalent Dangerous Goods Licence, or ability to obtain;
  • Strong computer literacy (SAP experience would be an advantage);
  • The ability to communicate and influence;
  • Self-motivation, well organised, and logical, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
