About the role

Are you ready to bring your shotfiring skills to a team that values safety, precision, and professional growth? We’re looking for a motivated and experienced Shotfirer to join our crew at Kurri Kurri Quarry Services, in a full-time role with a Monday to Friday schedule—giving you the stability of consistent hours and your weekends free.

 

In this role, you’ll play a key part in executing safe and effective blasting operations, working alongside a supportive team of professionals. You’ll be responsible for generating loading and initiation designs, carrying out blasts, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and contributing to continuous improvement on site.

What you will be doing

 

  • Champion our core Company value: “Safety is our Priority, Always.”
  • Utilise Orica’s SHOTPlus blasting software to produce blast designs including loading, initiation and exclusion area designs.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the blast crew
  • Operate MMU trucks and associated blasting plant equipment with diligence and precision.
  • Provide expert shotfiring services in accordance with safety and operational standards.
  • Support preventative maintenance across all relevant plant and machinery.
  • Participate directly in the delivery of explosive products into pre-drilled blast holes.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to deliver outstanding service to our valued customers.

What you will bring

 

  • Hold a current BEUL, demonstrating full compliance and capability in handling explosives
  • Possess current UHL Security Clearance, ensuring readiness for secure and sensitive operations
  • Bring over 1 year of hands-on shotfiring experience, with a strong focus on safety and precision
  • HR Licence is a bonus, offering added flexibility in vehicle operation (not essential)
  • Equipped with strong computer skills to support efficient planning, reporting, and communication
