About the role
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Engineer/Representative – Technical Services to join our team in Kurri Kurri, with a focus on Drill and Blast operations for Open Cut (Hard Rock) mining and Quarries.
This role is pivotal in delivering technical blasting engineering support, project management, product stewardship, and measurable value to our Quarry customers across New South Wales. You’ll be the go-to expert for practical blasting solutions, working closely with a diverse range of customers and sites to provide tailored technical advice and hands-on support in the application of Orica’s products.

You’ll also play a key role in supporting the rollout of Orica’s industry-leading technologies, which are transforming the way the mining industry operates:
- WebGen – Wireless blasting and initiation systems
- Avatel – Semi-autonomous charging systems
- 4D – Density-controlled emulsion products for both open-cut and underground applications
- BlastIQ – A digital platform revolutionizing the entire Drill and Blast process

What you will be doing
- Mentor and upskill engineers and technicians by fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence within the team;
- Collaborate with the Leadership Team to shape business development plans, refine key account strategies, and align technical support with Orica’s growth objectives;
- Develop and deploy technical support strategies, including digital blast optimisation tools, data-driven insights, and tailored training programs for site teams;
- Spearhead customer engagement by delivering compelling presentations, facilitating technical forums, and acting as a trusted advisor in blasting innovation;
- Drive advanced technical support by troubleshooting blast performance issues, optimising designs, and implementing cutting-edge solutions to maximise efficiency and safety;
- Lead high-impact technical blasting projects, from initial scoping to execution, ensuring seamless delivery and measurable value for customers;
- Champion safety and best practices, ensuring strict adherence to SHES initiatives while pushing the boundaries of blasting innovation.
What you will bring
- A degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline (Civil, Mechanical, Project Management, etc.);
- 5+ years of hands-on operational or technical experience in quarrying or open cut mining;
- Strong knowledge of the drill and blast process, with a passion for continuous improvement;
- A growth mindset and eagerness to learn from industry leaders in drill and blast;
- Experience in project management and execution (preferred);
- A solid understanding of the extractive industries, including cost structures and profitability drivers.
