About the role

Location: Western Canada (Kamloops, BC-based; territory includes major mining regions)

 

The Sales Representative is responsible for driving growth and delivering value through Orica’s blasting solutions, explosives, and technical services for open cut and underground mining operations. This role builds strong relationships with mining customers, identifies opportunities for efficiency and safety improvements, and partners with technical and operational teams to implement solutions that optimize productivity and reduce total cost of ownership.

What you will be doing

Sales & Growth

  • Achieve territory revenue, margin, and volume targets for explosives and blasting services.
  • Develop and execute account plans for major mining customers, including forecasting and pipeline management.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, pricing strategies, and contract renewals in alignment with Orica’s policies.

 

Customer Engagement & Technical Solutions

  • Understand customer production goals and challenges; propose tailored blasting solutions and value-added services.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists to deliver blast optimization, automation, and digital solutions.
  • Provide on-site support during implementation and maintain strong post-sale relationships.

 

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and regulatory changes; share insights with leadership.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and activity reports.

 

Safety & Compliance

  • Champion Orica’s Zero Harm safety culture; ensure compliance with all site safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote safe handling, storage, and transportation of explosives in accordance with legislation and Orica standards.

What you will bring

  • 5+ years in B2B sales within mining, blasting, or industrial services.
  • Strong understanding of open cut and underground mining operations.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to travel extensively to mine sites.
  • Knowledge of explosives, blasting systems, and mining productivity solutions, an asset.
  • Familiarity with digital blasting technologies and automation, an asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and stakeholders, an asset.

 

Role dimensions

  • Location: Kamloops, BC - Hybrid 3 days/week in the office
  • Travelling: 50%

Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

 

Compensation Range  

  • Between $94,650 and $130,000 / year
  • Eligible for annual short-term incentive plan
