About the role

 

Safety, precision and teamwork sit at the heart of everything we do at Orica. We are seeking a Magazine Keeper to join our team at the Kalgoorlie Explosives Reserve, working on a 5 days on / 2 days off roster, Monday to Friday, with the EBA also including 13 rostered Saturdays per year.

In this hands‑on role, you will help ensure packaged Class 1 product and related materials are received, stored and dispatched safely and correctly within the magazine areas. You’ll follow clear procedures and work in line with the Australian Explosives Code and Orica’s safety and quality standards.

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in working safely, values structure and accuracy, and understands the importance of following procedures. You’ll work as part of a close‑knit, supportive team, contributing to the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the reserve and helping ensure reliable supply for our customers and operations.

What you will be doing

 

  • Carry out picking, packing, loading and unloading activities safely and as planned, following the Australian Explosives Code, Orica Safety Charter and Chain of Responsibility requirements;
  • To maintain a safe and tidy magazine environment, including good housekeeping and ensuring equipment and machinery are safe to use;
  • Safely receive, store and dispatch explosives and related materials, ensuring products are handled strictly in line with approved procedures;
  • To manage accurate magazine inventory, including stock movements, returns, quality issues and waste, using scanners and systems (SAP);
  • You will monitor and control explosives limits within magazines to ensure full regulatory and operational compliance;
  • Communicate clearly with the site team and freight providers to support controlled handover of product and enable post‑goods issue;
  • Work positively with others by contributing to handovers, team meetings, training and continuous improvement activities.

What you will bring

 

  • Previous warehousing experience, including handling stock, inventory or goods movements;
  • A general understanding of inventory control or magazine operations, or willingness to build skills in this area;
  • Hold a current C Class driver’s licence (HR licence highly regarded);
  • A valid High-Risk Work Licence LF (Forklift) required;
  • Willingness and ability to obtain required licences, including a Security Clearance and SSAN / Dangerous Goods Licence;
  • Some exposure to SAP or similar systems is advantageous, but not essential;
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to follow procedures, complete documentation and work accurately;
  • Good communication and safety awareness, including understanding of manual handling, ergonomics and working effectively with team members and supervisors.
