About the role
We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have a new opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to join our Western Australia Metals Fleet & Assets Team. The role will operate on an 8 days on 6 days off roster, all accommodation, meals and transport will be provided whilst on shift. This role will operate, DIDO or FIFO from Perth to our field sites.
Reporting to the Fleet & Asset Supervisor, the Mechanical Fitter will provide breakdown technical support and maintenance for all of Orica’s mobile plant and equipment on site.

What you will be doing
- Assisting Orica site with mobile and fixed plant breakdown support; (Mercedes or Volvo experience is Advantageous)
- General servicing of all mobile and fixed plant and machinery;
- Schedule servicing, repairs, alterations and breakdown maintenance;
- Assist Site Managers in the management of a maintenance plan for the equipment at the site;
- Knowledge and adherence to relevant procedures, statutory requirements and codes
- Continually reassess risks associated with operation and maintenance processes taking appropriate corrective action as required;
- Participate in safety programs and promote safe work practice.
What you will bring
- Trade certification in either Heavy Road Transport, Auto Electrical or equivalent.
- Previous experience working on heavy machinery or mobile plant (advantageous);
- For HV Mechanics , auto electrical knowledge is advantageous
- Strong written and verbal communication, customer relations and problem-solving skills;
- Driver’s license required;
- Ability to attain a Heavy rigid dangerous goods vehicle license
- Ability to attain a National police clearance
- Ability to attain Confined space and Working at heights certification
- Self-Motivated worker with a strong attitude to safety and quality of service.
