About the role

Talent acquisition is evolving rapidly, and at Orica, we believe great hiring goes beyond filling vacancies.
As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, you'll act as a trusted talent advisor to business leaders and hiring managers, helping identify, attract, assess, and engage diverse talent through a skills-based and data-informed approach. You'll combine market insights, sourcing expertise, technology, and relationship-building skills to deliver exceptional outcomes for candidates, hiring managers, and the business. Working as part of a collaborative regional team, you'll contribute to both operational recruitment delivery and strategic talent initiatives that support Orica's growth across Asia.

What you will be doing

 

Talent Advisory & Hiring Excellence

  • Partner with hiring managers and HR stakeholders to understand capability needs, define success profiles, and develop effective hiring strategies aligned to business priorities.
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment across corporate, technical, operational, and frontline roles, delivering an exceptional experience for candidates and hiring managers.
  • Apply structured, skills-based assessment approaches to support objective, evidence-based, and inclusive hiring decisions.

 

Strategic Sourcing & Talent Intelligence

  • Build and maintain diverse talent pipelines for current and future hiring needs through proactive sourcing, talent mapping, market research, and candidate engagement.
  • Leverage talent intelligence, labour market insights, and AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot to identify talent opportunities, improve sourcing effectiveness, and inform hiring strategies.
  • Develop innovative sourcing approaches across multiple channels to attract high-quality talent, including passive candidates and emerging skill sets critical to Orica's future workforce needs.

 

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Use recruitment data, talent insights, and market intelligence to optimise hiring outcomes, influence decision-making, and strengthen workforce capability.
  • Embrace digital and AI-enabled technologies to streamline recruitment processes, enhance productivity, improve candidate experiences, and enable more informed talent decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance recruitment effectiveness, operational efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Champion inclusive, skills-based hiring practices that broaden access to talent and support Orica's diversity, equity, and inclusion commitments.

 

Global Collaboration & Talent Delivery

  • Partner with business leaders, HR, and Talent Acquisition colleagues across Asia and the broader global organisation when needed to deliver talent solutions that support Orica's workforce needs.
  • Support hiring across Indonesia while providing flexible recruitment capacity across Asia, contributing to a collaborative and globally connected Talent & Sourcing team.
  • Contribute to global talent initiatives, process improvement, and the adoption of best practices that enhance the effectiveness and consistency of talent acquisition at Orica.

  • Talent Advisory. Ability to understand business needs, translate them into hiring strategies, and provide talent insights that support workforce capability and business outcomes.
  • Candidate Assessment. Ability to evaluate candidates using structured, evidence-based assessment techniques, focusing on capability, potential, and transferable skills rather than experience alone.
  • Communication. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with candidates, hiring managers, and stakeholders across different functions, cultures, and levels of the organisation.

 

Learnable Skills

  • Talent Intelligence. Ability to leverage labour market insights, recruitment analytics, and talent data to inform hiring strategies and decision-making.
  • Digital & AI Fluency. Ability to effectively utilise recruitment technology and AI-enabled tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, to enhance productivity, improve candidate experiences, and generate actionable insights.
  • Employment Branding & Talent Attraction. Experience supporting employer branding, attraction campaigns, and talent community engagement initiatives.
