About the role

 

The Senior Manager - SHES will lead the regional SHES team to execute in line with Orica’s global standards, supporting the company’s strategy across the Mining Services Business Units in Asia. The incumbent will contribute to the development of Orica’s SHES strategy, regional improvement plans, and the implementation of SHES systems and programs to drive functional excellence. 

What you will be doing

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Ensure all behaviors align with Orica’s Charter Values, Purpose, and Strategy.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the regional SHES strategy in alignment with global standards.
  • Lead and manage the Regional SHES Team to implement and embed global standards and procedures.
  • Foster a culture of safety, health, environmental, and security excellence within the team.
  • Identify, assess, and manage SHES material risks and programs to achieve continuous improvement in SHES performance.
  • Oversee the Tier 2 and 3 SHES Assurance Program to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Drive the achievement of Orica-wide SHES targets through effective planning and execution.
  • Monitor and report on SHES performance metrics to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
  • Provide effective oversight of safety, health, environmental, and security issues and trends that could materially affect Orica.
  • Coordinate the development of Orica’s position on SHES matters and engage with industry
  • Lead SHES investigations and coordinate responses to major events.
  • Champion a proactive approach to stopping work in any situation where SHES, community, or quality is at risk.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in SHES practices across the region
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance SHES performance.

What you will bring

 

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in safety, health, environmental, and security (SHES) roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position. 
  • Proven track record of managing SHES functions in the mining industry, with a strong understanding of industry-specific risks and regulations. 
  • Experience in developing and implementing SHES strategies and programs at a regional or global level. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse team across multiple locations. 
  • Experience in incident investigation and management, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. 
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions. 
  • Proficiency in SHES management systems and tools. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities. Willingness to travel within the region as required.
