About the role
The Specialist – Blasting Analytics CoE provides specialist engineering support via subject matter expertise on blast designs, mining measurement data, products and mining processes, and the implementation of optimized workflows to enable Orica to sustainably create value.
What you will be doing
- Visibly demonstrating a commitment to Orica’s value of ‘Safety is our priority’.
- Adhering to Orica’s Global Operating Procedures.
- Supporting regional Technical Service teams to deliver contracted outcomes.
- Enabling the successful delivery of performance-based outcomes through the integration of measurement system data, insights, and subject matter expertise.
- Quality assurance (including periodic auditing) and due diligence of insights and workflows delivered for execution by internal/external customers.
- Supporting regional strategic initiatives including penetration of new products and technology.
- Identifying and executing performance/outcome-based contract opportunities.
- Analyses blast measurements and assessing performance against a baseline.
- Develops case studies, benchmarking reports and blasting reports.
- Deliver remote blast design and prediction services for optimized designs and outcomes
- Ensures maximum service revenue generated from provided technical services as per contracted service level agreement.
- Captures the value delivered to customers.
- Audits of mining and blasting practices for internal and external customers.
What you will bring
- Tertiary qualification required, preferably in mining or mineral extraction related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience post professional qualification in mining /mineral extraction related field.
- Experience in implementing process improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated skills associated with articulating value propositions, and appropriately positioning risk vs. reward.
- Experience in the mining or mineral extraction industry with demonstrated involvement in process optimization.
- Comprehensive understanding of minerals and mining industry measurement tools.
- Comprehensive understanding of mining methods, blasting products and services
- Experience with drill and blast design, workflows and mine to mill optimization.
- Capable user of analytics/visualization tools and knowledge of data analytics methods.
- Demonstrates courage, models resilience and flexibility.
