About the role

This role will be part of the new Orica’s Hyderabad Technology Centre based in Hyderabad, India which is being established to provide enabling engineering and technical services to Orica’s global business. Working on a Monday to Friday roster amongst an inclusive, friendly, and supportive team of industry professionals, the Software Developer is responsible for translating business requirements into solution designs and facilitating the delivery and support of solutions. Area of Responsibility is Microsoft SharePoint, Service-now platform, Microsoft Power Platform and Power BI.

What you will be doing

• Self-manage projects from scoping to support, handling design, configuration, testing, and go-live.
• Independently manage and implement approved small-scale enhancements to existing applications.
• Provide ongoing support for applications, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, and user assistance.
• Use project management methodologies for planning, tracking, and reporting on application delivery activities aligned with software development lifecycle management.
• Define, configure, and code applications to meet business needs, ensuring they are secure and efficient.
• Document all aspects of application design and development, including requirements, designs, and test cases.
• Suggest and manage changes to system designs and contribute to IT application architecture and strategy.
• Plan and manage regular software updates, patches, and upgrades, including impact assessments and change management.
• Provide Level 2 support for applications, manage incidents, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate with vendors for advanced issues.
• Build relationships with stakeholders, manage vendor performance, and ensure successful project support and transition.
• Follow IT principles, guidelines and processes 

What you will bring

• Advanced English proficiency is required for both oral and written communication, as it is the global business language of Orica.
• A tertiary qualification in an IT-related discipline, such as a Bachelor's degree, is necessary for the role.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in IT roles is needed, with a demonstrated track record of designing and supporting applications that address business needs.
• At least 1 year of experience using Microsoft application development tools is required.
• Working experience with Microsoft SharePoint for collaboration and content management is essential.
• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including advanced modules such as Power Apps and Power Automate, is necessary.
• The role requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a project or team.
• Strong skills in understanding and interpreting complex business requirements to develop effective application solutions are needed.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and remediation skills, including the ability to anticipate issues and provide appropriate workarounds, are important.
• Initiative and flexibility to handle occasional out-of-hours calls and the ability to work from home or the office are required.
• Experience in industries such as manufacturing, mining, or utilities is advantageous.
• Competency in both waterfall and agile project management methodologies is preferred.
• Exposure to global organizations, including experience with remote teams and line management, is beneficial.
• Experience in roles such as Application Developer, Application Support, or Database Administrator is preferred.
• Working knowledge of website development and support, along with database development and support, preferably using Microsoft SQL Server, is a plus.
• Experience with the configuration and support of large commercial packages like ServiceNow and SharePoint is advantageous.
