About the role

Orica, a global leader in mining and infrastructure solutions, is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead – SAP Development to drive the evolution of our SAP ecosystem. As the Lead – SAP Development, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of SAP solutions across Orica’s systems of experience. You will work closely with solution architects, SAP SMEs, and business stakeholders to ensure the integrity, scalability, and sustainability of our SAP landscape.

This role is ideal for a seasoned SAP professional with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for innovation. You will guide a diverse team of developers and vendors, ensuring alignment with Orica’s IT strategy, governance standards, and operational excellence.

What you will be doing

• Lead the development and delivery of SAP solutions across ABAP, Fiori, Forms, Workflow, and oData.
• Collaborate with architects and SMEs to design secure, scalable, and cost-effective applications.
• Oversee the full application lifecycle: scoping, design, development, testing, and implementation.
• Ensure compliance with IT governance, architecture, and lifecycle management standards.
• Drive the SAP roadmap, manage lifecycle and release planning, and assess vendor updates.
• Provide expert support to operational teams, including root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.
• Foster a high-performance culture through mentoring, coaching, and talent development.
• Engage with stakeholders across IT, business, and infrastructure to ensure strategic alignment.

What you will bring

• Tertiary qualification in an IT-related discipline.
• 10+ years of SAP development experience, including ABAP, Fiori, and S/4HANA.
• 2+ years in a development leadership role within an SAP end-user environment.
• Proven experience across multiple SAP functional areas (e.g., Logistics, Procurement, Production, Finance).
• Strong planning, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead cross-functional, global teams.
