About the role

As the Lead Enterprise Architect - Core Technology, you will play a pivotal role in defining and driving the strategic architecture vision across our global IT landscape—spanning 400 sites in over 60 countries.
This role operates at a strategic level—setting the direction for infrastructure, cloud, and network technologies that underpin Orica’s long-term business objectives. It is responsible for establishing architecture standards, developing multi-year roadmaps, and guiding complex programs that simplify operations, strengthen cyber resilience, and enable enterprise-wide agility.

What you will be doing
- Define and maintain the Core Technology architecture vision, strategy, and 3-year roadmap.
- Align architecture initiatives with Orica’s enterprise goals and operating models.
- Lead architecture governance, standards, and frameworks to drive simplification and cost-efficiency.
- Influence and guide engineering and operations teams to ensure compliance with architectural standards.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to capture business requirements and translate them into high-level designs.
- Oversee solution designs, ensuring alignment with strategic roadmaps and operational standards.
- Drive strategic planning across infrastructure, cloud, and network domains.
- Monitor technology trends and assess opportunities for innovation and optimization.
- Engage with vendors and internal teams to validate solutions through proof-of-concepts.
- Support major incident management by diagnosing complex issues and improving design resilience.
What you will bring
- Strategic mindset with experience in defining and executing architecture roadmaps.
- 3–5 years in enterprise architecture roles within large, global organizations.
- 5+ years in IT infrastructure operations, including networking and cloud technologies.
- Proven experience in multi-year, enterprise-wide programs involving multiple projects and stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), virtualization, and software-defined networking.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and align them to strategic goals.
- Clear distinction from solution architects—this role is about vision, strategy, and stakeholder alignment, not technical deep-dives.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage executives, engineers, and vendors.
- Commercial acumen and a collaborative, outcome-focused approach.
- Certifications in cloud and infrastructure architecture are highly desirable.
