About the role
We are looking for an experienced Design Draftsperson to support the design and delivery of fixed and mobile plant across our operations.
In this role, you will prepare high‑quality drawings and specifications, ensure all designs meet safety and quality standards, and support the management of drafting workflows — including coordination with external drafting contractors.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring designs are safe, fit‑for‑purpose, and delivered on time.
What you will be doing
- Prepare concept layouts, detailed construction drawings and specifications (civil, mechanical and electrical)
- Ensure all drafting work follows Orica’s Design Quality Plan (DQP) and drawing management processes
- Check and review drawings prepared by other draftspersons and contractors
- Support planning, prioritisation and coordination of drafting activities
- Apply Australian Standards (including AS1100) and statutory requirements in all designs
- Build safety, maintainability and standardisation into design outcomes
- Re‑use existing standard drawings and designs wherever possible
- Ensure design documentation is complete, accurate and “fit for purpose”
- Actively lead and promote safe work practices and a strong SH&E culture
What you will bring
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in an engineering design drafting role
- Strong knowledge of AS1100 drawing standards (essential)
- Advanced experience using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Practical understanding of materials handling and pumping systems
- Experience with fixed plant and/or mobile plant environments
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, stakeholders and external contractors
