About the role

 

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Manufacturing Centre Manager to lead our Helidon Manufacturing Centre including two manufacturing sites in Toowoomba, QLD and Kalgoorlie, WA. As a pivotal member of the global Discrete Manufacturing Leadership team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient production of a large portfolio of blasting systems, vital for heavy infrastructure and mining projects in Australia and beyond. You will also serve as a member of the AUSPAC regional management team, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders.

 

This senior leadership position offers a unique opportunity to make a substantial impact in a challenging and rewarding industry, at Orica's iconic global manufacturing site.

What you will be doing

 

  • Safety is Our Priority, Always: Cultivate a safety-first culture, ensuring all manufacturing activities adhere to the highest safety standards.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee and optimise manufacturing operations, ensuring quality and production targets are met.
  • Team Leadership: Lead the development of the onsite team of 150+, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives for operational efficiency and sustainability.

What you will bring

 

  • Proven ability to prioritise and champion a safety culture, adhering to protocols and standards.
  • A Bachelor of Chemistry degree or related; a Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • 7-10 leadership experience in leading a chemical manufacturing centre of a similar size (150+ team) would be highly regarded. Experience in multi sites management is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly developed financial and commercial literacy with experience in budget management, cost control, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Proven Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and management of change experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in community engagement and corporate social responsibility, dedicated to integrating sustainability principles into operations.
