About the role

We are excited to announce a pivotal opportunity for a OT Cyber Security Specialist role to join our esteemed Orica team in any of our Australia key offices.

The OT Cyber Security Specialist plays a key role in delivering global technical guidance and support for implementing cybersecurity measures within Orica’s operational technology (OT) environments at Manufacturing sites.

Core responsibilities include advancing the OT Cyber Security Roadmap by identifying suitable cybersecurity solutions tailored to manufacturing settings, offering technical assistance to site-based OT engineers, and tracking critical cyber risk indicators.

To fulfill these objectives, the specialist will collaborate closely with the Manufacturing Technology team, site personnel, the PMO, Global IT teams, and external vendors or consultants.

What you will be doing


The OT Cyber Security Specialist will be instrumental in driving Orica’s global cyber improvement roadmap across its Manufacturing sites. This involves close collaboration with site-based engineers to identify and implement standardized cybersecurity tools tailored for operational technology environments. The specialist will monitor and report on site-level progress to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

A key part of the role includes supporting compliance with Orica’s Manufacturing OT Cyber Security Requirements by conducting Business Impact Assessments, developing Service Continuity Management plans, and creating standardized documentation templates for cyber controls. The specialist will also assist in deploying cybersecurity tools, investigating vulnerabilities, and supporting incident response efforts.

Beyond implementation, the role encompasses ongoing support and governance of deployed cybersecurity solutions. This includes managing tools such as vulnerability monitoring systems, endpoint protection, automated backups, password management, and remote access platforms.

The specialist will contribute to governance activities by developing audit frameworks, participating in exemption assessments, and reporting key risk indicators to leadership. Additionally, they will help deliver cybersecurity awareness initiatives, actively engage in the OT Community of Practice, and promote knowledge sharing around emerging threats and best practices in OT cybersecurity.

What you will bring

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years (preferably 5 years) experience in deploying and maintaining cyber security tools in OT and automation environments
  • Familiarity with threat modeling and risk management in OT settings
  • ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Certificate(s) or ability to attain within 12 months (preferred but not required).
  • Experience with industrial network protocols (Profinet, TwinCAT, OPC, etc.) and architectures (preferred but not required).
  • Experience with OT PLC/SCADA platforms used by Orica sites, including Siemens and AVEVA (preferred but not required).
