About The Role – 34084 - Business Development Manager - Digital Solutions Canada
Orica is seeking a Business Development Manager who will develop, maintain, and manage Orica’s Blast Design & Execution Canada business. The purpose is to increase Orica’s digital product market share and achieve financial growth targets including winning and maintaining existing digital sales for both Orica and competitor held customers and to provide strategy and guidelines to the North American region for the development and growth of Digital Solutions business, based on the general guidelines provided by the needs of the business and the overall business Strategy.
What you will be doing
• Adhering to Orica’s Safe Operating Procedures and demonstrating visible leadership by undertaking safety audits, leadership interactions within the business and contributing that any current or new product is operated on a safe way while foreseeing risks and creating plans to minimise those.
• Lead Canada’s B&DE business to achieve financial targets through development and maintenance of customer relationships with decision makers: technical users, influencers, financial decision makers, and others
• Constantly analyse Canada Market to understand trends and opportunities, providing input during the development of the annual Budget.
• Detecting new opportunities in products and services to be commercialized aimed at market share increase and margin maximization
• Lead the introduction of new technologies in the region, by coordinating multi-functional teams, leading customer interactions as required
• Lead and define pricing strategy for Digital Solutions in Canada, understanding customer needs, aiming to maximize margins within the region
• Maintain monthly dashboard report outlining wins/losses, key project focus, opportunity progress/status/next steps for Canada region.
• Understand the competitor landscape, Next Best Alternative pricing and identify where our current Value Drivers align to commercial accounts needs. Provide intelligence to assist the global function to understand where to best focus business resources/time to develop future offerings.
• Leveraging Orica’s digital capabilities to support Business Development Managers, ABMs and Territory Managers in winning existing Orica customer sites, Greenfield projects, Competitor held accounts and new Performance contracts.
• Monitor Business Development pipeline between regions to enable prioritisation of workload and ensure focus on key strategic target customers.
• Constantly promote product trials, and ensure that technical product support is in place to demonstrate benefits to customers
• Identify opportunities for digital offerings as part of the differentiated Orica Services offerings including integrated workflows, Advanced Modelling and Data Science Applications.
What you will bring
- Experience in mining specifically in digital technology (software, information systems, communication systems, navigation systems)
- Experience in selling technology products in the mining industry
- French (in addition to English) is a plus

Your qualifications
- Mining degree and/or experience in the mining industry
- Sales and Marketing experience
- Digital technology knowledge
- Mining process and value driver understanding
- Great communication, presentation, and negotiating skills
- Willing and able to travel up to 50%

Compensation Range
- Full time Salary position
- $ 115,000 – $151,000 CAD
- Eligible for annual short-term incentive plan
(Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
