About the role

Infrastructure operations specialists are responsible for the maintenance and support of global IT infrastructure platforms and support structures. They are accountable for the management of installed systems and infrastructure including O/S, S/W, HAN, and management tools. Areas of responsibility include onsite, virtual, and hosted infrastructure.

What you will be doing

Change & Lifecycle Management
•    Responsible for managing and implementing regular software/OS releases and upgrades to area of responsibility
•    Review vendor notifications on releases, coordinate and perform impact assessment and provide updates to the engineers for their approval
•    Provide recommendations to Lead Engineer for optional enhancements provided by the upgrades/updates
•    Ensure appropriate communication to impacted business users and coordinate and perform testing and change management activities
•    Record and manage deviations, risks and issues associated with the change management process and manage the associated continuous improvement process to ensure improvement actions are successfully         completed
•    Ensure Orica's IT Assets are lifecycle managed for software applications and infrastructure within area of responsibility including execution of patching activities and version upgrades

Infrastructure Support
•    Trouble shoot and resolve issues and incidents including advice or training to users, devising and applying corrections (permanent or temporary) for faults, making general or site-specific modifications and updating documentation
•    Perform proactive infrastructure maintenance activities including emergency, preventative, corrective maintenance and disaster recovery planning & execution
•    Perform root cause analysis, post incident reviews and business impact validation for issues and incidents
•    Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the functionality and business processes of Oricas infrastructure
Vendor Management
•    Manage outsource, contract and software vendors to ensure they deliver effective IT performance including review of SLA, performance and reporting
•    Assist projects in ensuring project vendors delivers effective IT performance as SME for area of responsibility
Asset & Security Activities
•    Ensure security and licensing requirements are met for area of responsibility
•    Provide input to the Asset specialist to ensure an accurate asset inventory
•    Provide input to procurement and report on licensing numbers
•    Drive consolidation and simplification of the Orica compute platform landscape
Stakeholder Engagement
•    Engagement with key business stakeholders, Chief Cyber Security Office, Architecture and Strategy, and IT business engagement to design, deliver and support solutions
•    Engagement with Infrastructure leads, engineers and operational staff to ensure alignment across functional areas
•    Collaborate with the Infrastructure teams to identify any interdependencies and/or application development needs to support infrastructure delivery
•    Engagement with strategy and architecture team to manage the 0 to 12-month strategy and roadmap
 

What you will bring

•    Tertiary qualification in an IT-related discipline or related industry qualifications and experience
•    3 + years in an IT infrastructure role
•    2 + years experience in area of responsibility
•    Demonstrated success supporting and maintaining necessary components that make up an infrastructure compute platform
•    Demonstrated problem solving and remediation skills
•    Strong cross-team communication and relationship building skills
•    Experience providing support and maintenance across a global platform that includes a multi-sourced workforce as well as third party and managed services
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate to both technical and non- technical audience
