About the role

The Sr Specialist SHES is a subject matter expert for Environment in the relevant department within the SHES team.  This job assists with the development of local/regional systems, procedures and initiatives, incorporating identified leading practices, to enable compliance to SHES Group Mandate and Standards.

What you will be doing


Working under the direction of the relevant SHES Manager & Sr. Manager Environment remediation this job has the following accountabilities:
•    Provide specialist subject matter expertise of the implementation of global Environment management systems and processes to support the SHES (Environment) Group Procedures
•    Support the implementation and embedment of global SHES (Environment) systems and processes with the local site
•    Provide advice to the Business on site or regional Environmental matters or initiatives
•    Develop and monitor environmental and ESG improvement initiatives for incorporation into site annual SHES improvement plan (aligning to discrete manufacturing and Asia SHES)
•    Act as an SME focal point when SHES (Environment) related issues are escalated from plants 
•    Liasoning with Government bodies like JSPCB & CPCB as applicable
•    Initiate and engage with Indian Environmental or ESG bodies (including presentation where required) to recognize Gomia or regional success in managing ESG or environmental matters. 
•    Conduct environment audits and inspections
•    Assessing and provide framework for operations teams to manage environmental risks
•    Reporting of environmental risk management to VP SHES and Asia MCM.
•    Leading & Training teams regarding environmental management and environmental risks (including controls)
•    Reporting (regulatory and Orica internal) for Environmental performance
•    Oversee waste management and emissions control
•    Analysis, review, reporting and escalation of groundwater or emissions reporting to site manager, Asia MCM and Asia VP SHES.
•    Direct environmental remediation works providing technical input and in consultation with environmental specialists and Asia VP SHES
•    Provide input and facilitate specialists input into the Gomia Contamination remedial strategy
•    Participation in the Asia Discrete manufacturing Environmental Steering Committee
•    Maintain independent review and audit of potential contemporary sources and source control 
•    Management of environmental team and facilitate work for environmental remediation worker
•    Lab scale environmental trials as needed
 

What you will bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in environmental management or related work.
  • Familiarity with environmental remediation processes.
  • Solid computer skills, particularly in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
