About the role

 

We’re excited to announce an opportunity for a talented Team Leader – Open Cut to join our team. In this leadership role, you’ll oversee a crew delivering high-quality bulk explosive services to our customers, ensuring all operations are conducted safely and with environmental responsibility. You’ll work closely with Bench Assistants, MMU Operators, Shotfirers, and the Site Supervisor, managing all aspects of blast preparation—including loading, tying, and firing.

 

This position is based at the Bozshakol Copper Mine Site in Kazakhstan and operates on a rotational schedule, reporting directly to the Site Supervisor.

What you will be doing

 

  • Report all Unusual Incidents and Accidents immediately;
  • Participate in daily Toolbox talks and Monthly Safety Meetings;
  • Undertake all and any necessary training for Operations, SHEC and site specific requirements;
  • Maintain all personal training against the Orica training Matrix for your role;
  • Ensure all emergency equipment and First Aid kits are complete.  

What you will bring

 

  • Tertiary or technical qualification - up to 5 years experience post qualification;
  • Strong reputation for integrity, ethics, personal values and solid character;
  • Solid interpersonal & communication skills;
  • Self-aware and open to feedback;
  • Work effectively across teams.
