As a Senior Site Supervisor – Open Cut & Underground  based at Kibali, you’ll be at the heart of operational excellence, safety, and team leadership.

In this pivotal role, you’ll lead Orica teams on-site, manage plant and ancillary equipment, and ensure seamless service delivery aligned with our Service Level Agreements to  open pit and underground operations,, corporate standards, and regulatory requirements. Your leadership will be key in driving safety, customer satisfaction, employee engagement and performance,.

What you will be doing

Oversee daily site operations for both open cut and underground mining activities

Ensure strict compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Lead and manage a team of site personnel, including shift supervisors and blast crew.

Coordinate with client representatives to align operational plans and resolve issues.

Monitor and report on site performance, productivity, and KPIs.

Manage inventory, equipment maintenance, and logistics to support uninterrupted operations.

Analyses site inventories to minimize product quantities and improve site profitability through stock rotation and management.

Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and efficiency.

Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of blasting activities.

Participates in the short, medium, and long-term planning activities of the site.

Audits and inspects site operations to ensure regulatory requirements are met and are performed safely in accordance company policies.

Ensures that good housekeeping, record keeping, and preventative maintenance programs are in place.

Assists in preparation of fixed cost budgets, capital expenditures, staffing, equipment requirements, and a updated Resource Model.

Support training and development of site and customer’s staff.

 

What you will bring

Tertiary degree in an Engineering discipline preferably Mining.

Minimum 5–7 years of experience in mining operations, with exposure to both open cut and underground environments.

Demonstrated experience in mechanized underground mining operations, with a strong understanding of operational workflows, equipment, and safety protocols.

Proven ability to lead a team, including building a collaborative approach in the development of the direction and operations of the workstream.

Proven influencer, able to manage processes across multiple stakeholder groups.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.

High attention to safety and operational detail.

Problem-solving and decision-making capability.

Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing conditions.

Experience in implementing process improvement initiatives would be desirable.

Demonstrated skills associated with building strong customer and vendor relationships.

Financial acumen & budgeting experience.
