About the role
Orica is currently inviting applications for Trainee Blast Crew Operators at our Deer Park Quarry sites.
If you're looking to start a career in mining, this is a great opportunity to join a supportive team where full training is provided. You’ll begin as a bench assistant and gradually build your skills to operate a Mobile Manufacturing Unit (MMU), a specialised heavy-rigid vehicle fitted with advanced technology, used to safely deliver explosive products into pre-drilled blast holes.

What you will be doing
- Work shoulder to shoulder with a skilled team, helping deliver explosive products safely into pre-drilled blast holes across our quarries;
- Provide hands-on support and physical labour as part of the blasting team;
- Learn to operate a range of plant and equipment used in the blasting process;
- When successfully trained, operate Orica's advanced blasting vehicle such as the Mobile Manufacturing Unit or MMU;

What you will bring
- A positive, team-focused attitude – looking out for your mates;
- Willingness to work in challenging environments (hot, dusty);
- Ability to pass a national police clearance;
- A medium or heavy rigid license is an advantage, but not essential;
- A willingness to learn and be trained in what is an exciting new career opportunity.
