About the site
Our Deer Park Specialty Emulsifier manufacturing facility, located just 15 km west of Melbourne’s CBD, is a cornerstone of Orica’s global operations.
This historic site has been in use since the late 1800s, producing, storing, and dispatching explosive materials that power quarrying, major infrastructure, and mining projects across Australia and around the world.
About the role
We’re thrilled to announce an opportunity to lead Orica’s Deer Park Manufacturing site, along with a specialised hose treatment facility in Wodonga.
As Site Manager, you’ll report directly to the Vice President – Continuous Manufacturing and take full accountability for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People outcomes, driving strategies that deliver real improvement.
This role is all about leadership – guiding a cross-functional Manufacturing Centre Leadership Team and working collaboratively with broader Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Regional teams to ensure alignment and success.
What you will be doing
- Ensure safety, health, environment, and security standards are followed across all site activities.
 - Set the site’s strategy and future vision in line with business needs.
 - Build and develop the leadership team and high-potential talent.
 - Foster an engaged culture focused on continuous improvement.
 - Maintain strong relationships with regulators, community, and local industry.
 - Represent the site within broader manufacturing and supply chain leadership forums.
 
What you will bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical preferred.
 - 5–10 years’ senior leadership experience in a manufacturing plant or facility.
 - Track record of driving process and continuous improvement initiatives.
 - Strong leadership skills – collaborative, inclusive, and strategic approach.
 - Ability to engage and communicate with diverse stakeholders internally and externally.
