About our Deer Park manufacturing facility
Our Deer Park chemical manufacturing facility 15km’s West of Melbourne CBD, Victoria is a critical epicentre of Orica’s AusPac business.
This iconic Orica site has been used since circa 1875 for the manufacturing, storage and dispatch of explosive materials mostly used in the blasting process in many quarrying, heavy infrastructure and mining projects across Australia and overseas.

As we continue to expand to meet customer demand, we’re offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our close-knit, high-performing team. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for the ongoing execution of safe and efficient mechanical maintenance for the entire Deer Park Specialty Emulsifier Plant.
This is a full-time, permanent position with a stable Monday to Friday day shift roster, offering a competitive remuneration package and genuine career progression opportunities.
What you will be doing
- Execution of mechanical maintenance for the Deer Park Site with focus on safety, quality, delivery, cost and continuous improvement;
- Investigate, analyse and determine root causes of mechanical plant failures;
- Participate in short and long-term maintenance planning and execution;
- Prepare, execute and review work instructions, procedures and work scopes;
- Participate in plant modification and upgrade projects.
What you will bring
- Trade qualifications as a Fitter (mandatory requirement);
- Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment;
- A positive friendly attitude, effective team member, high quality results driven and a willingness to learn;
- Effective analytical and hands on problem solving skills;
- Some MS Office computing skills;
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Have worked with a CMMS system (SAP preferred but not essential)
