About the role
The objectives of this position is to manage the people, equipment and activities involved in obtaining, maintaining and servicing the business of Orica Canada Inc. along with providing customer relationship leadership to deliver sustainable revenue, delivery contractual products & services to customers through leadership of customer interactions on all accounts in charge for the designated site in a manner to ensure both a short and long term viable business in accordance with corporate and regulatory standards.
What you will be doing
Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
* Champion Orica’s Safety Charter values and ensure full compliance.
* Report all incidents and maintain safe work practices at all times.
* Promote safe handling and use of Orica products across employees, customers, and regulators.
* Apply risk management processes to all operations.
* Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and encourage Take 5 practices.
* Manage SHE programs (JSERAs, emergency plans, waste, reporting, and compliance activities).
* Ensure PPE use, valid permits, and safe equipment conditions.
* Communicate and enforce Orica safety standards.
Customer Service
* Act as primary customer contact and ensure timely service delivery.
* Support account management and identify direct sales opportunities.
* Coordinate internal resources to meet customer needs.
* Investigate and resolve product complaints.
* Identify opportunities to enhance customer value and blasting systems.
Financial Management
* Support cost optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Contribute to short- and long-term site planning.
People Development
* Recruit, train, and retain skilled employees.
* Conduct performance reviews and set objectives.
Site Operations
* Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational requirements.
* Manage training, documentation, and employee development.
* Maintain housekeeping, inventory control, and preventative maintenance.
* Plan staffing, budgets, and resource needs.
* Schedule daily operations and manage site activities.
* Support audits and implement corrective actions.
Communication
* Train and guide personnel on product use and safety.
* Provide feedback to management and support market strategies.
Customer Service (Growth Focus)
* Enhance service delivery while improving customer satisfaction.
* Maintain regular communication and identify service improvements.
Technology Advancement
* Promote best practices and new technologies.
* Identify opportunities to improve systems and deliver added customer value.
What you will bring
- Engineer or mine technician in appropriate field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years industry experience.
- Understanding of initiation systems and their application in advanced blasting solutions.
- Strong degree of professionalism and self motivation.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining customer service relationships in a market with significant growth opportunities.
- Ability to provide customer solutions matching Orica operational abilities and budgetary requirements.
- Ability to analyze/impact financial data utilizing SAP, and Resource Modeling.
· Organization, attentive to detail, time management and quality control.
· Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
· Knowledge of Federal, Provincial and other applicable regulations.
· Mechanical comprehension of operation/maintenance of equipment.
- Strong computer or base skills including Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, Outlook and Internet.
- Ability to interact effectively with people in varying situations.
- Must be located within one (1) hour drive of the site.
Physical Requirements
- Fast paced workload with time pressure and decision-making responsibilities
- Typical office work setting along with frequent field work in all types of weather.
- Moderate travel throughout the specified region.
- Exposure to physically difficult and hazardous environments found in a quarry or construction operation
- Moderate physical stress and occasional long hours.
- Required activities include sitting, walking, reaching, bending, frequent use of hands and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

Compensation Range
- $84,000 - $115,000 CAD per year.
