About the role

As the Manager of our Manufacturing Centre in Zambia-Chambishi, you'll be at the forefront of driving excellence in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Motivation. Your leadership will be the key to our success, guiding a cross-functional team to achieve outstanding results.
The Manufacturing Manager is accountable for all Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Motivation outcomes and the associated improvement strategies at the Manufacturing Centre. It delivers these accountabilities through leadership of a cross functional teams and in partnership with the Manufacturing Centre Leadership Team through the management of collaboration and aligned support from broader Manufacturing & Supply Chain and Regional resources/teams as required.
The role is a key member of Orica’s Global Manufacturing Team and it represents the Manufacturing Centre and Orica in the local industry and community.

What you will be doing
Ensure that safety, health, environment and security procedures are adhered to by all members and across all activities of the Manufacturing Centre.
Align all personal behaviours with Orica’s Charter Values, Purpose and Strategy. Demonstrate and role model safe behaviours and values.
Set the Manufacturing Centre strategy and vision for the future integrated with the needs of the business and other business functions.
Actively participate as a member of Manufacturing & Supply Chain team & maintain regular interaction with Regional Management Team.
Develop the Manufaturing Centre Leadership Team and High Potential Manufacturing Centre talent to maximise potential and capability, including Succession Planning for Key Roles, Employee Progression Plans, and Individual Development Plans in line with People Plan.
Drive a culture of engaged employees involved in the delivery of high quality standards and lean continuous improvement
Continuously deploy best practices across all Product Line and Functional Support activities with full business alignment.
Ensure functional support departments, internal and external to Manufacturing Centre, provide required and optimised support to the Product Line Team that aligns with and enables Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost performance to be achieved.
Proactively maintain relationships with external stakeholders across regulatory bodies, local community and local industry for optimised outcomes for the Manufacturing Centre and Orica.
The MCM will represent the Manufacturing Centre on the Continuous Manufacturing Leadership Team and to the broader Manufacturing and Supply Chain and Regional organisations.

Your qualifications
Formal tertiary qualification in engineering or science discipline is required.
Minimum experience of 10- 15 years’ experience in manufacturing, particularly in high-risk industries such as explosives, chemicals, or pharmaceutical.
Minimum of 5- 7 years of leading and managing a team, driving change, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement experience.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, and familiarity with process hazard analysis.
Certificate in explosives technology or safety management will be advantageous.
