We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for a Vice President, SHES (Safety, Health, Environmental and Security) within our North America business focused on managing the regional SHES team to execute in line with the global SHES standards.  This role will lead the regional and manufacturing SHES teams to support Orica’s strategy.  The incumbent will contribute to the development of the Orica SHES strategy and development of regional SHES improvement plans as well as the implementation of Orica SHES systems and programs to drive SHES functional excellence across the mining services and manufacturing business units within the geographic region.

The North America Regional Vice President, SHES will:

 

•    Align all behaviors with Orica’s Charter Values, Purpose, and Strategy. 
•    Manage the Regional SHES team to implement and embed the global standard and procedures.
•    Manage SHES material risks and programs to achieve improvements in SHES performance.
•    Manage the Tier 2 and Tier 3 SHES Assurance Program.
•    Achieve Orica-wide SHES targets.
•    Provide effective oversight of safety, health, environmental and security issues and trends that could materially affect Orica and coordinate the development of Orica’s position. 
•    Engage with industry associations on SHES matters.
•    Manage SHES investigations and co-ordinate response to major events.

 

The Regional Vice President, SHES will champion full delivery of the region’s operating philosophy, with focus on the leading terms of safety, health, environment, security, excellence and manufacturing. Sets the example for stopping the job in any situation where SHES, Community or Quality is at risk, beyond Orica’s standard risk control practices.

What you will bring

 

•    Engineering or science degree (undergraduate or postgraduate) in fields related to occupational health and safety, environmental management, risk management, commercial operations or similar, or an endorsement by the Vice President, Human Resources based on pertinent prior experience and education combined.  
•    Minimum 15 years’ experience post professional qualification.
•    Advanced knowledge of internal processes and policies, or ability to rapidly acquire same.
•    International or multi-country experience preferred.
•    Extensive line management in a variety of roles and environments.
•    Well-developed mentoring and coaching skills. 
•    Proven ability to lead a team, including building a collaborative approach in the development of the direction and operations of the workstream.
•    Proven influencer, able to manage processes across multiple stakeholder groups.
•    Stakeholder management, including corporate level: ability to operate effectively at both the strategic and operational level.
•    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, including prioritization, planning, task delegation, and coordination across multiple teams.
•    Demonstrated skills associated with building strong vendor and/or customer relationships.
•    Financial acumen & budgeting experience.
•    Able to build structure in ambiguous situations and establish best practices.

•    30 direct and indirect reports
•    Role will be based at the Centennial, CO office and must report to the office at least three days a week

Compensation Range 

 

•    $200,000 – $240,000 USD 
•    Eligible for annual short-term incentive plan

 

(Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
