About the role

Technician – Welder/Pipefitter  will work within the maintenance team (to the extent of their skill and competence) and are responsible for  identifying anomalies and repairing the structural and pressure system components with the specified quality and complying with the safety and work procedures

 

Connection with the bigger picture:

The Maintenance Technicians are the individuals executing the Maintenance Tasks on the Plant equipment. The quality of their job is essential for the reliability of the Asset as well as the information collected during the execution of those activities, always looking for improving the efficiency of the Maintenance processes.

Site services and maintenance management must be approached in the light of it being a foundation for the Manufacturing Centre to ensure personal and process safety, enable quality product outcomes, improve plant reliability and uptime, and reduce costs.

 

This position is located at our Carseland, AB manufacturing site. 

What you will be doing

  1. Execute the job in the field according to the weekly schedule.
  2. Assure before the start of the job, all safety measures have been addressed according to Company´s procedures and that all OH&S and Orica policies are followed.
  3. Ensure that the equipment used for all jobs to be performed are in a safe and functional conditions and request new ones to replace the ones not suitable.
  4. Capture and report the required data from the job as instructed in order to compile information for continuous improvement and introduce all that data in SAP.
  5. Optimize the Tool time providing true information of the wastes associated to the job and propose actions to improve the Tools time.
  6. Leave the working area clean and tidy.
  7. Promote the identification and repair of damaged equipment through SAP.
  8. Provide mentorship to the apprentices in the reliability cultures.
  9. Lead other Technicians or Contractors if requested.
  10. Participate as requested in RCFA, HAZOPs or other studies.
  11. Participate in Shutdowns and Turnarounds.
  12. Collaborate with Maintenance Reliability and Integrity Engineers to Ensure Preventive Maintenance procedures are in place for new and existing equipment.
  13. Maintain a fluid communication with the Reliability and Integrity Engineers sharing the information obtained from the field activities to improve the Reliability of the facilities.
  14. Support the process of Operations readiness for new facilities when they are commissioned.
  15. Be a member of the Fire crew and Emergency Respond Team.

What you will bring

Formal Welder/Pipefitter Trade Certification

Relevant Qualifications (Diploma or Degree) & Experience 

Knoledge of ABSA, API or ASME standards and QI/QC programs
