About the role

The Production Superintendent (PS) is accountable for meeting the daily, weekly, and monthly production plans to ensure quality product is available as required to satisfy the S&OP.  The PS will provide support to the PLM and be responsible to deliver certain subsections of his/her associated accountabilities.


The PS will lead the shift-based production team and will be the direct line manager for the Product Line Shift Supervisors and the Process Planning Specialist.  The PS will represent the production operations team on the Product Line Management team and drive a culture of continuous improvement in the shift operations team.

What you will be doing

The Production Superintendent will ensure the following:

a)    Safety, health, and environmental procedures are adhered to by all members of the Production Team.
b)    Product produced meets the quality and volume requirements hourly and daily.
c)    Respond to and communicate deviations from production plans (including plant trip notification updates/timelines).
d)    Plant operation is always within the safe operating window as defined. Ensure non-compliances are reported for investigation and resolution.
e)    Plant operation time maximised within the defined efficiency operating window.
f)    Efficient use of raw materials.
g)    Deliver Process Planning as an integrated component of Maintenance Planning and Scheduling.
h)    Execute the planned and unplanned preparation of the plant, including the necessary permit to work processes, to allow safe and efficient maintenance execution (including shutdowns).
i)    Conduct regular scheduled and unscheduled plant equipment and general inspections and formalise outcomes and actions.
j)    Management of the Shift Supervisors and their engagement and motivation which includes ensuring their training and development, performance management, reward, and recognitions etc.
k)    Management of overtime and related approvals of the production shift teams.
l)    Join the Production Superintendents CoP (Community of Practise) with the purpose of collaborating on best practise and the improvement agenda relevant to the position and its requirements.
m)    Provide a work environment that encourages individuals to be self-motivated.

What you will bring

  • The PS will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Science /Technology with at least 4 years of experience.
  • At least  5 years Continuous Manufacturing experience with at least 3 years in operations management preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Excellent management, communication, and leadership skills.

Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
