About the role

Join Orica’s team in our Windsor office in Brisbane as a Senior AI Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering advanced embedded and AI-powered software solutions across edge devices, Linux-based platforms, and cloud environments. In this hands-on role, you will develop robust, production-ready systems, leveraging your expertise in C/C++/python software development while integrating innovative technologies such as machine vision, machine learning, and Generative AI to solve real-world challenges.

Working at the intersection of software engineering and business innovation, you will help transform ideas into scalable industrial and field solutions. Your contributions will support the development of intelligent technologies that enhance operational performance and drive innovation across the entire ecosystem, from device-level applications through to cloud-based services.

The role involves building high-quality C/C++/python applications, developing and maintaining embedded Linux platforms using Yocto, and contributing across the full software development lifecycle—from requirements gathering and system design through to testing, deployment, and ongoing support. Working closely with software, hardware, AI, and product teams, you will help deliver integrated solutions that leverage technologies such as machine vision, machine learning, and Generative AI to enhance industrial and connected products.

Beyond hands-on development, you will provide technical leadership in the design and architecture of embedded and software-hardware systems, supporting delivery teams with expert guidance and practical solutions. You will champion innovation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across teams while fostering an inclusive culture aligned with Orica’s values. The role also includes staying current with emerging technologies, communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, and ensuring adherence to data governance standards to support the delivery of reliable, scalable, and future-focused solutions.
