About the role


Are you driven by purpose and ready to shape the future of workplace health? Orica is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking AusPac SHES Health Lead to guide health and wellbeing across our diverse operations, from mining and manufacturing to agriculture and supply chain.

Location: Flexible across Australia or New Zealand (East Coast preferred) — relocation support available
Work Style: Flexible working arrangements
Travel: Up to 25% across the AusPac region

What you will be doing

 

  • Lead Health Strategy & Governance: Drive the development and execution of the AusPac SHES Health Strategy & Plan, advising senior leaders on health risks, compliance, and medical standards.
  • Represent & Influence Globally: Act as Orica’s health representative in global forums and industry bodies, providing SME advice on legal requirements and exposure risks.
  • Design & Deliver Health Programs: Implement impactful programs including fitness for work, medical surveillance, psychosocial risk management, and health promotion.
  • Standardise & Assure Excellence: Establish consistent injury and illness management practices, build assurance frameworks, and develop audit tools across the region.
  • Develop Service Provider Model: Continue designing and managing the service provider framework, setting standards and overseeing service level agreements.
  • Foster Collaboration & Mentorship: Build strong partnerships with internal teams, regulators, and external health leads, while mentoring SHES professionals and championing best practices.
  • Oversee Operations & Drive Change: Provide strategic health leadership across diverse environments, manage high-value contracts, and maintain site engagement through regular travel.

What you will bring

 

  • Over 10 years’ experience in occupational health in high-risk industries;
  • Background in nursing, medicine, or paramedicine;
  • Strong leadership in health strategy, injury management, and medical programs;
  • Registered health professional with relevant qualifications;
  • Accredited in rehab coordination, audiometry, spirometry, and drug & alcohol programs;
  • Solid understanding of health laws, data systems, and mental health risks;
  • Great communicator, team player, and skilled in managing projects and priorities.
