About the role

We are looking for an experienced and safety-focused Diesel Fitter to join our East Coast Metals Maintenance Team at Cannington Mine, Queensland.

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you will provide hands-on maintenance and technical support across mobile and fixed plant equipment within a mine-site environment. You will use your trade expertise, diagnostic capability and knowledge of heavy equipment to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of our assets.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a qualified Diesel Fitter with mining industry experience who is confident working with heavy vehicles, mobile plant and mining equipment in a safety-critical operational environment.

What you will be doing

• Maintain, service and repair mobile and fixed plant equipment in a mine-site environment;
• Diagnose mechanical faults and deliver safe and practical maintenance solutions;
• Diagnose, maintain and repair heavy vehicle systems, including braking systems;
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns;
• Conduct equipment inspections and identify maintenance requirements;
• Provide technical advice and support to site teams;
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and availability;
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and support critical spare parts management;
• Use digital maintenance and asset management systems; and
• Collaborate with site and maintenance teams to support safe, reliable and efficient mining operations.

What you will bring

• A recognised trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or relevant heavy vehicle mechanical trade;
• Experience working within the mining industry or a mine-site maintenance environment;
• Demonstrated experience maintaining, servicing and repairing heavy vehicles, mobile plant and mining equipment;
• Strong mechanical fault-finding, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills;
• The “Diagnose and repair heavy vehicle air braking systems” unit as part of your trade qualification or certificate;
• A strong commitment to safe work practices and high-quality maintenance standards;
• Experience working within site-based maintenance and breakdown environments;
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a maintenance team;
• Strong communication and practical problem-solving skills;
• Confidence using digital maintenance and asset management systems; and
• An HR Driver’s Licence is advantageous but not essential.
